You are hereby invited to the HPC-MLA Annual Christmas Lunch to take place on Wednesday, December 14 2011 at the Stage Restaurant in the Honolulu Design Center at 11:30.

You have an option of ordering off menu or opting for the prix fixe menu (which does not include drinks).

Soda $3.50 (refillable)

Disaster Preparedness and Response Workshop on Dec. 3, 2010

The Hawaii-Pacific Chapter of the Medical Librarians Association is holding a Disaster Planning Workshop with presenter, Julie Kwan, Acting Associate Director at UCLA/National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Southwest Region.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
The “10-Step Approach to Service Continuity Planning” class is one of three primary components of NNLM’s Emergency Preparedness & Response Plan. While the focus of the class is on enabling libraries to maintain their information services to their patrons in the event of an emergency or disaster, the class also includes information about developing basic personal safety procedures as well as how to get help to mitigate the damage to collections after a disaster.

Save the date! Webcast on November 10

Join us for MLA’s webcast, “ABCs of E-books: Strategies for the Medical Library,” to be presented on Wednesday, November 10, 9:00-10:30 AM
HST.

The webcast will familiarize us with electronic books and the associated collection management issues related to various platforms, pricing models, licensing agreements, term of ownership, resource management and access methods. These are needed to help us make informed decisions which will best serve our constituents.

We will be viewing the webcast at STRAUB. More details to follow.

NN/LM PSR is generously sponsoring our registration fee, so there will be no charge for the webcast.

Please send Carolyn Dennison an email (dennison@hml.org) if you will be attending so that she can get a preliminary head count!
